Pulleys

The pulleys of the sails can be seen in sailboats with and without an engine. These pieces need to be free of obstructions to smoothly maneuver and move the boat. Therefore you must lubricate the bearings properly. A multilithium grease is ideal since, in addition to facilitating the movement of the strings, it has excellent resistance against water, so its lubrication will last longer.

Direction

In addition to using sails as a propulsion element, sailboats and boats that don't have an engine also have a keel to support the direction, so they don't rely exclusively on the wind. Boat steering works much like car steering, with a steering column, rack, and pinion that, as they turn, push cylinders to opposite sides. The cylinders that move the keel to each side are supported by hydraulic steering fluid that makes maneuvering slick and quiet. It also protects the seals and steering rubbers, which reduces friction between the parts to protect them from wear.

Maintain the Exterior of Your Boat

For many, buying a boat can be the fruit of a lifetime of effort. For this reason, you must pay special attention to the fact that it always looks pristine and remains functional. Now is the time to focus on exterior maintenance. Despite being designed to be in constant contact with water, sun, and all-weather elements, some of them can irreparably damage the hull and the rest of the exposed surfaces. That's why you must give maintenance to have a shiny and functional exterior for longer. The first thing is to get the boat out of the water to wash the hull and exposed surfaces thoroughly. If you haven't done it for a long time, it may be necessary to use a pressure washer. It's always important to do this carefully to avoid removing paint or polish. Once all the surfaces are covered with water, start washing with a sponge and protect the entire hull. Then rinse with plenty of water until you leave no soap or cleaning solution traces. Take a clean cloth and dry all surfaces thoroughly. In most cases, it's highly advised to use microfibers to avoid scratches. When the boat's exterior is dry, it's time to wax it and do this task quickly. You can apply a liquid wax, which will also protect the boat's hull.

Interior Maintenance

In this case, it would be best not to go too far inside, but you'll start with maintaining the interiors. In addition to being exposed to the sun's rays in most cases, the interior is in constant contact with the breeze and sun exposure. These elements can stain or even damage them by drying them out and causing them to crack and break. Maintaining the interiors of a boat is relatively simple and not time-consuming. You can clean them with a sponge submerged in water and an interior or carpet stain remover. The stains that you want to remove must be rubbed. If you have to clean the carpets, you can vigorously scrub with plenty of liquid. It would help clean them using a smaller amount of water with stain remover for the seats to prevent them from absorbing and staining them. Once all the stains have been removed, the second step will be to apply polish to the seats and covers lined with vinyl or plastic leather elements. With the same sponge, after being profusely rinsed and squeezed to perfection, you can apply a layer of surface polish to top everything off. Apply a generous layer, and if you see that it's quickly absorbed, it means that the material was extremely dry. If so, apply a new coat after 30 minutes and repeat until you see a remaining light layer of polish on the surface.
